Giorgio Petrocchi (b. 1921 d. 1989) taught Italian Literature at the University of Rome "La Sapienza". Corresponding member of the National Lyncean Academy, he was co-director of the Dantesque Encyclopaedia. Amongst other works, he edited a fundamental edition of the Divine Comedy (4 volumes 1966-67).
