Quantum physics has profoundly transformed our understanding of the universe. This book brings it closer to us, guiding us through a world that is as extraordinary as it is fascinating.

Quantum physics is widely regarded as the most profound revolution in modern science and thought. Its discoveries have allowed us to surpass the limitations of classical physics in explaining the infinitely small, opening a window to a thrilling and awe-inspiring panorama of knowledge. However, it is undeniable that quantum physics is also baffling and complex—so much so that even Richard Feynman admitted no one fully understands it! This book doesn’t promise shortcuts or oversimplified explanations, but offers a curious guide that respects the mystery surrounding it. Through five key ideas— discontinuity, identity, future, indeterminacy, and relationship — interwoven with art, philosophy, and everyday reflections, Piero Martin invites the reader to peek beyond the veil of one of humanity’s most extraordinary intellectual achievements. With a sincere and realistic approach, one that doesn’t hide the complexity of the subject, Martin illuminates its beauty, linking discoveries like those of Heisenberg and Einstein to popular culture, the mosaics of San Marco in Venice, and our daily experiences, transforming frustration into wonder. Indeed, quantum physics takes us to the very heart of the universe—and, in many ways, to the heart of ourselves.
