History of Italy. 4: Wars and Fascism 1914-1943
Giovanni Sabbatucci, Vittorio Vidotto (a cura di)
In the history of unified Italy the period from 1914 to 1943 was certainly the most dramatic and traumatic: the Great War, the crisis of the political-institutional structure constructed by the Liberal leading class, and the advent of Fascism with an ambitious attempt at international affirmation that would end in the catastrophe of the Second World War. These tormented and controversial times are illustrated here without neglecting the economic and social context and without losing sight of the factors of continuity that, notwithstanding Fascism or thanks to it, link Liberal Italy with Republican Italy.
