The Contemporary World. From 1848 to today
Among the many possible periodizations for marking the problematic end of contemporary history, this guide adopts the revolutionary wave of 1848—undoubtedly an epochal event at European level, and seen as such even by contemporaries—thus uniting in a single volume the broad spectrum of issues commonly included in this discipline. This approach has the advantage of including issues and events that cannot be ignored if one wants to understand the contemporary world, beginning with those relating to the project of Italian unification. In this greatly amplified and revised version, the section on the twentieth century is particularly rich and has been reorganised into chapters divided by theme.
