A History of Pininfarina 1930-2005. A global Italian industry
Established in 1930 by Battista (Pinin) Farina, the firm located in Turin quickly established a reputation for being one of the most important 'made in Italy' brands in the automobile design sector, thanks to a happy blend of planning and engineering prowess, with avant-garde models and innovative technological solutions. After the pioneering work of its founder - renowned for his creativity and skill - came that of his son Sergio (President of Confindustria from 1988 to1992), who transformed Pininfarina into a modern industrial complex while maintaining the distinctive traits of that intrinsically Italian factory, even outside of the vehicle sector. Now into its third generation, Pininfarina is committed to combining its traditional strength in project planning with new programmes for research and development in the fields of design, engineering and production.
